Daily Lesson Log guidelines for daily lesson preparation was issued by the Department of Education to institutionalize instructional planning which is a critical part of the teaching and learning process in public schools. These guidelines are meant to support teachers in effectively organizing and managing K to 12 classrooms to be genuinely responsive to learners’ needs.

These guidelines in the preparation of K-12 Daily Lesson Log shall instill reflective practice among teachers by providing them opportunities to think about and reflect on their instructional practices. K-12

Daily Lesson Log preparation is part of the teacher’s core function as a facilitator of learning inside the classroom. Well-prepared and well-planned lessons are fundamental to ensuring the delivery of quality teaching and learning in schools.

As a  DepEd guideline, teachers with at least one (1) year of teaching experience, including teachers with private school and higher education institution (HEI) teaching experience, shall not be required to make a Detailed Lesson Plan (DLP). Teachers who have been in the service for at least one (1) year, handling learning areas with available LMs and TGs provided by the Department shall not be required to prepare a DLP. Instead, they shall be required to fill out a  weekly K-12 Daily Lesson Log (DLL). Teachers are allowed to work together in preparing DLLs. Seasoned or veteran teachers shall also mentor new or novice teachers in the preparation of DLLs.

What's Inside the (UPDATED) Earth and life science DLL Free Download

  • explain the evolving concept of life based on emerging pieces of evidence
  • describe classic experiments that model conditions which may have enabled the first forms to evolve
  • describe how unifying themes (e.g., structure and function, evolution, and ecosystems) in the study of life show the connections among living things and how they interact with each other and with their environment
  • explain how cells carry out functions required for life
  • explain how photosynthetic organisms use light energy to combine carbon dioxide and water to form energy-rich compounds
  • trace the energy flow from the environment to the cells.
  • describe how organisms obtain and utilize energy
  •   recognize that organisms require energy to carry out functions required for life
  • describe the different ways of how plants reproduce
  •   illustrate the relationships among structures of flowers, fruits, and seeds
  • describe the different ways of how representative animals reproduce
  • explain how the information in the DNA allows the transfer of genetic information and synthesis of proteins
  • describe the process of genetic engineering
  • conduct a survey of the current uses of genetically modified organisms
  • evaluate the benefits and risks of using GMOs
  • explain the different metabolic processes involved in the various organ systems
  • describe the general and unique characteristics of the different organ systems in representative animals
  • analyze and appreciate the functional relationships of the different organ systems in ensuring animal survival
  • describe the structure and function of the different plant organs
  • explain the different metabolic processes involved in the plant organ systems
  • describe evidence of evolution such as homology, DNA/protein sequences, plate tectonics, fossil record, embryology, and artificial selection/agriculture
  •  explain how populations of organisms have changed and continue to change over time showing patterns of descent with modification from common ancestors to produce the organismal diversity observed today
  • describe how the present system of classification of organisms is based on evolutionary relationships
  • describe the principles of the ecosystem
  • categorize the different biotic potential and environmental resistance (e.g., diseases, availability of food, and predators) that affect population explosion
  • describe how the different terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems are interlinked with one another
