DepEd teachers to receive P1000a as World Teachers’ Day 2024 incentive benefit

DepEd teachers to receive P1000 as World Teachers’ Day 2024 incentive benefit. This incentive is part of the budget allocated to DepEd in the General Appropriations Act for 2024, officially known as Republic Act 11936, which can be accessed on the Department of Budget and Management's website.

Based on the GAA for 2024, "World Teachers' Day Incentive Benefit. The amount appropriated herein under World Teachers' Day Incentive Benefit shall be granted during the Annual. World Teachers' Day celebration in the amount of One Thousand Pesos (P1,000) per teacher, subject to the guidelines issued by the DepEd, and pertinent budgeting accounting, and auditing rules and regulations."

DepEd has yet to release the official guidelines detailing who is eligible for the benefit, leaving it unclear whether newly-hired teachers will qualify. This annual incentive program began under former Education Secretary Leonor Briones.

Public school teachers are expected to receive the P1,000 either on October 5, World Teachers’ Day, or shortly afterward.
