Teaching Allowance Update

The Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act, signed into law by President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on June 3, 2024, increased the annual teaching allowance (formerly known as "chalk allowance") from ₱5,000 to ₱10,000 starting SY 2025–2026.

This allowance aims to support public school teachers in purchasing:

  • Teaching supplies and materials (tangible or intangible)

  • Internet and communication services

  • Annual medical and physical examination requirements

When Will It Be Released?

As per DepEd policy:

“The Cash Allowance shall be given to entitled public school teachers not earlier than the official start of every school year, as stipulated in the annual issuance on the official School Calendar, or as may be decided by the Secretary or his/her designated authority in cases of emergency situations.”

While some divisions may begin processing the release tomorrow, the actual receipt of the allowance may vary by region, depending on when the school officially opens and local processing times.

Teachers are advised to:

  • Wait for an official announcement or memorandum from their Schools Division Office (SDO)

  • Coordinate with their school head or HR unit for specific schedules

Final Reminder

While the release may start tomorrow, teachers are strongly encouraged to await official confirmation from their respective SDOs to avoid misinformation. Updates will be posted as soon as verified schedules are released.
