As heavy rains continue to batter various regions in the country, several local governments have declared class suspensions to ensure the safety of students and school personnel. The downpours are brought by a Low-Pressure Area (LPA) within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), further intensified by the southwest monsoon (habagat). Below is a list of areas where class suspensions have been announced. Please note that this is an ongoing update, so make sure to refresh the page for the latest information.

Tropical storm Gener is expected to make landfall in the vicinity of Isabela or Aurora later today. It is forecasted to exit through La Union or Pangasinan by tomorrow, September 18.

Here are the list of class suspensions on Wednesday: 

Areas with Class Suspensions (All Levels):

  • Manaoag, Pangasinan - all levels, public and private
  • Mangaldan, Pangasinan - all levels, public and private
  • Rosales, Pangasinan - all levels, public and private
  • Victorias City - all levels, public and private (Declaration)
  • Silay City - all levels, public and private (Declaration)
  • Isabela - all levels, public and private (Declaration)
  • Pulupandan - all levels Declaration
  • Murcia, Negros Occidental - all levels, public
  • Negros Occidental (Public and private schools)
  • Silay City, Negros Occidental - all levels, public and private
  • Victorias City, Negros Occidental - all levels, public and private
  • Bais City, Negros Oriental - all levels, public and private

Areas with Preschool to Senior High School Suspensions:

  • San Jose de Buenavista, Antique - pre-school to senior high school, public and private
  • Bacolod City, Negros Occidental - pre-elementary to senior high school, public and private (Declaration)
  • Hamtic, Antique (Public and private schools)
  • Iloilo City, Iloilo (Public and private schools)

    According to Department of Education guidelines, in-person classes from Kindergarten to Grade 12 are automatically suspended when a tropical cyclone wind signal is raised in the area. Additionally, classes are also suspended if the state weather bureau, PAGASA, issues an orange or red rainfall warning.
